Back to the cancer grind today. Doc recommended, and I agreed, to get a series of x-rays this week to see what my stomach problem is. The most likely outcome is we will find tumor lying on the intestine, which causes pain after I eat and no appetite most of the time.
Potential solution would be to put in a stent to keep the intestine open enough to make digestion easier and help me get my appetite back
We're going to do this Thursday. Meanwhile we're going to push the resumption of chemo back another week, which will allow me maybe to enjoy the weekend (two in a row!) and also have a pretty good chance of feeling good for my retirement party next week.
Doc also told me that it's not a good idea to try to scrimp on the pain medication, with the idea being to try to wean myself off it. He said staying ahead of the pain is more important, since once it gains a foothold it tends to be hard to dislodge.
Amazing all of the stuff that the digestive system does sort of automatically, with most of us never giving it a second thought. I won't do that any more.
