For the first time life and death were laid at our door step today.
Since the bleeding problem was not curable, we were given the decision today to choose hospice care and let the inevitable happen, or to choose surgery which would try to fix the cause of the bleeding.
We chose surgery. Surgery seems to opt for the safer long-term chances of survival, but also brings with it a huge risk of complications. And with the possibility of much more pain, which I've gotten damn sick of over the last few weeks.
But the other option was to do nothing - and slip away, slowly and painlessly, in hospice care. We decided life is worth another shot.
Jay will most likely be going into surgery tonight - please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
