Taking a pass on Baltimore

Big news out of Baltimore today: The Red Sox completed a four-game sweep of the Orioles and the Gallaghers have decided to delay their visit to Johns Hopkins.

The Sox left the town sometimes know as Charm City today following an 18-10 blowout and headed to Tampa to play the Devil Rays, while the Gallaghers, who were scheduled to head out to Edgar Allen Poe's home town tomorrow in preparation for a series of tests and meetings with docs Tuesday, decided to stay home instead.

With chemo already scheduled to start Friday in Albany and almost no chance of hearing of a superior strategy that would change that plan, we decided that the effort wasn't worth it. We could reschedule there, one of top cancer-fighting cancers in the nation, later as needed. The people who run their cancer center have been gracious and accommodating in their dealings with Janice.

There is a rumor that the sun may make an appearance Tuesday, and soaking it in would have more immediate therapeutic value than more tests and talks.

Now if the Sox series with the Orioles had been a few days later...
